Falsified Medical Product Alert N°2/2024
OZEMPIC (semaglutide): falsified product alert
WHO issued this alert on three falsified batches of OZEMPIC detected in Brazil and the United Kingdom in October 2023 and in the United States in December 2023. WHO said the products were supplied through the regulated supply chain. The alert lists signs such as poor-quality labels and spelling mistakes on the carton.1,2

- The annex gives Novo Nordisk as the stated manufacturer, and Novo Nordisk Farmaceutica do Brasil Ltda for the product found in Brazil. Novo Nordisk told WHO it did not make these products.
- Genuine manufacturer's statement
- WHO reported that Novo Nordisk, the genuine manufacturer, confirmed the products are falsified and were not manufactured by Novo Nordisk. LP6F832 is not a recognised batch. MP5E511 is a genuine batch number but the product is falsified. The combination of batch NAR0074 and serial number 430834149057 does not correspond to genuine manufacturing records.
